The following passage is an essay from my latest book, The Unlimited Power Within You. I wrote this piece over a year ago, in a moment where I was feeling broken and demoralized, in efforts to give myself hope that a better future awaited. I re-read this essay anytime I’m experiencing a contraction, a setback, a trigger or some sort of heaviness in my heart, and somehow, each time, I find myself in an outpouring of tears.
To think that the words of the previous version of myself—the one who felt broken and demoralized—is what is helping me cope as this version of myself is nothing short of extraordinary. I felt called to share this on here because I think we all need this reminder, especially as the Eclipse season does its thing.
You are your own guardian angel
One day you will find comfort in all of the moments you thought you’d never get through. The experiences that felt like the weight of the world was being carried on your back, those events that made you question your faith and very existence, the brokenness of your heart that led you to believe it will forever be closed off, or the confusion and desperation and shame that made you look at yourself in the mirror in full terror, not knowing the person you see in the reflection.
One day, you will come to understand that those seasons of life were not given to you as a punishment, but instead, were opportunities to show yourself the resilience, grit, and strength that you innately held. To be able to wake up each day, with a broken heart and a weaker mind, yet still have an ounce of hope that, “Maybe today it’ll get better or maybe tomorrow will be different or maybe a week from now my life can change,” was your way of building your own courage, bravery, and faith. Even if you didn’t know it then.
One day, a future version of yourself will look back on those moments, not with anger or resentment but with love and gratitude, connecting the dots in how every shift was giving you the opportunity to bloom beautifully, transform gently, and heal softly. You will come to understand that the discomfort was necessary in order to evolve, the drawbacks were essential in obtaining clarity, and the stagnancy was vital in realizing what truly matters in your life.
Because the truth is—you survived, and always will. All of it. What was once seen as impossible, is now your victory. What may feel like another mountain in the distance, will soon be seen as a mere stepping stone. If you find yourself struggling once again, remind yourself of this: someday, somewhere, there is a version of you who has survived this, looking back with compassion, peace, and appreciation in their heart for your current commitment to continue pushing through your journey despite the adversity.
Acknowledge the fact that you persevered each time, proving that you are your own guardian angel in this lifetime. You must use this knowledge as evidence—these seasons are not your breaking points but the phases of your becoming.
xx Karin
